John Green, Jr. is known throughout Franklin, TN for his long standing involvement with the community. In fact, you could call him a local celebrity. A 7th generation Franklin native, John graduated from Battle Ground Academy in 1945. He is also a World War II Navy veteran and a Vanderbilt University graduate. In 1990, he was named Franklin Citizen of the Year, and in 2010 he received The Franklin Tomorrow, Anne T. Rutherford Exemplary Community Volunteer Award. He is one of six founders of the Williamson County Association of Realtors, and he still works with the team at John M. Green Real Estate and Insurance on weekdays.

John Green, Jr. is perhaps best known around town for his incredible contributions to the local Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts. John began his lifelong involvement with the organizations soon after returning from the war. Now, he is considered to be one of the longest tenured scoutmasters in the country. Over the course of his involvement, he has helped over 200 boys earn the Eagle Scout Rank, and has been accepted into the National Boy Scouts of America’s Hall of Fame and Hall of Leadership. His property is home to “the barn,” the Scout-famed location in Franklin where Boy Scouts have been meeting since John founded Troop 137 and began hosting activities there in 1975. The barn is now fully outfitted for Scouts to thrive and achieve new ranks and merit badges. Over the course of his tenure, John has influenced the lives of more than 1,000 young men and their families.

When he isn’t working at John M. Green Insurance and Real Estate or Scouting, he is training for the Tennessee Senior Olympics, where he has medaled in the horseshoe event six times in the last seven years, including two gold!

John’s passionate involvement in the community has led to the establishment of “John M. Green Day” recognized by citizens of Williamson County on February 23 each year. The team at John M. Green Insurance and Real Estate is honored to be part of his ongoing legacy, and we aim to deliver his spirit of enthusiasm and commitment to our clients.

RYAN McKINNEY – Senior VP of Sales and Business Development

Ryan is a partner who serves as Senior VP of Sales and Business Development of John M. Green Insurance, Inc. He has over a decade of experience working as an insurance agent for two of the largest brokers in the country, where his primary focus was on large, complex commercial accounts with premiums well over $100,000.

After discovering that many of his successful commercial clients didn’t have the same level of sophistication and expertise applied to their personal insurance coverage, he conducted an in-depth study of the Nashville market research with affluent families, money managers, attorneys, luxury realtors, private bankers, insurance carriers and others. As a result, he developed a long-term plan to shift focus, and he began deepening his knowledge by studying applicable coverage and solutions before partnering and becoming a principal with John M. Green Insurance.

The process always begins by asking engaging questions and listening, gaining a detailed understanding of a client’s family, lifestyle, priorities and passions. In many cases, this is a combined approach involving wealth managers, estate attorneys, a CPA, family offices, etc., to develop the best solutions. He strives to continually increase his industry knowledge and bring more value to his clients.

Ryan has attained the prestigious Certified Workers Compensation Counselor (CWCC) and Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designations, and he is currently completing his Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC), Chartered Private Risk and Insurance Advisor (CPRIA), Agribusiness & Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) and Certified Personal Risk Manager (CPRM) designations.

He is also actively involved with the local chapter of the Professional Insurance Agents (PIA), lnsurors of Tennessee, the Nashville Downtown Rotary Club and Heritage Foundation of Williamson County.

Ryan is married to Genevieve, the assistant principal at Edmondson Elementary School in Nashville. They live in Franklin with their two children, Bennett (7) and Jennings (5). They are active members of Brentwood Baptist Church and Ryan has served on the board of numerous community organizations such as the CEO Fellowship, Friends of Warner Parks, Nashville Chamber West, The Phoenix Club of Nashville and Ducks Unlimited. A competitor at heart, he is an lronman finisher (10:15) and also finished second in his division in the 2016 Kenda AMA National Enduro Racing Series. In his spare time, he enjoys racing dirt bikes, shooting sporting clays, hunting and exercising.
